Perpetual vegetables, characterized by their longevity in the garden without requiring much maintenance, offer an alternative to traditional vegetable gardening. Unlike the latter, where the emphasis is on producing large quantities for winter storage, a perpetual vegetable garden allows you to harvest as and when you need to, according to the season.
Growing tips: In a perpetual vegetable garden, it is not necessary to rotate crops as in a conventional garden. However, weeding is crucial to avoid competition between vegetables and weeds. Since perpetual vegetables have strong root systems, they require deep, well-aerated soil. We therefore recommend amending the soil with well-decomposed compost or any other organic amendment.
Helpful hint: Perpetual vegetables have reduced nutritional and water requirements, making them economical and environmentally friendly.
