    Good to know :

    Sowing: February / April
    Harvest: July / October

Tomatoes can be harvested 4 to 5 months after sowing.

    Enemies

The main problems with tomatoes are mildew and apical necrosis.
To avoid mildew, the best solution is to protect your plants if you live in a region with frequent rainfall. You can also treat your plants with Bordeaux mixture.
Apical necrosis is not a disease. It's either due to low calcium levels in the soil or irregular watering. When the plant lacks water, it produces less sap and the furthest part of the stem will die for lack of nourishment. So water regularly, abundantly once a week for example.

Do I have to remove the gourmands from my tomato plants?

Pruning tomatoes is not compulsory, but is designed to increase fruit size and earliness, and make harvesting easier.
However, this method has two disadvantages: it takes time and discernment. The head of the tomato plant is not always easy to distinguish from a secondary shoot. What's more, removing the suckers can cause wounds on your plant. It is therefore strongly recommended that you consider helping your plant to heal by dusting it with maerl or green clay.
Another option is not to prune at all, and let the plant develop fully. It will therefore need more space in the garden, i.e. 1 m between each plant. The fruit will be smaller but more numerous.
A third solution is to grow the plant on two branches. After pinching the plant 20 cm from the ground, only the two lateral strands are kept. All the suckers are then removed.

When and how to sow the Black Pineapple tomato?

Sowing: from February to April on warm soil (20°) or in pots indoors or in a heated greenhouse, in fine sowing compost. Tomatoes need a constant minimum of 20°C to germinate.
Bury your tomato seeds to a depth of 1 cm, then cover with sowing compost. Water your potting soil with a sprayer to keep it moist but not soggy. Place your terrine near a window to prevent your seedlings from shooting upwards in search of light.
Transplant when frosts are no longer a concern and plants are 12-15 cm tall in rich, loose, healthy soil. Spacing: 70 cm between rows and 50 cm on the row in sunny positions.
Put stakes in place before planting. Water abundantly at the base once a week to prevent the development of disease.
