Discover the Big Borlotto Langue de Feu dwarf bean, a shelling variety of Italian origin. With its large pods and round, white beans streaked with red, it is not only highly productive, but also visually spectacular.
Culinary use: Perfect for soups, minestrones, salads, and indispensable in Mexican cuisine.
Sow between April and May, as soon as frosts are no longer a threat and the soil is sufficiently warm. The sowing schedule varies according to bean type:
Green beans: staggered sowing up to the end of July.
Fresh beans: staggered sowing until July 15.
Dry beans: staggered sowing until June 15.
For dwarf varieties, sow 5 to 6 seeds in staggered stacks every 40 cm, with rows 40 cm apart. For row crop varieties, sow 6 to 7 seeds per staggered 50 cm apart, with rows 70 cm apart, and limit to 2 to 3 rows per bed.For optimum conservation of dry seeds, wait until the pods are very dry before harvesting.
Growing conditions: Healthy, well loosened, cool, light, humus-bearing soil. Exposure to full sun, with regular hoeing and appropriate watering for robust, productive plants.
