    Good to know :

    Sowing: March / April
    Harvest: July / October

Thai Lavender Frog Egg is a variety from Central Thailand, producing many small, creamy purple fruits, the size of cherry tomatoes. Mature in 80 days, these fruits can be stir-fried, oven-roasted or grilled on skewers.

To sow successfully, plant in pots of fine potting soil in March/April on a warm bed (25°C) indoors or in a heated greenhouse. Cover the seeds with a few millimeters of potting soil and place the cups near a window, watering lightly if necessary.

At the end of May, transplant the 15 cm seedlings into fresh, deep, humus-rich soil in a sunny spot, 50 cm apart. Hoe, weed and ridge the plants, water regularly at the base, mulch and prune as for tomatoes. Eggplants can be combined with bush beans.

Harvesting takes place about 3 months after sowing.

    Main enemies include :

Mildew: gray-green spots on leaves with white felting underneath. Prevention: hoeing, watering with nettle manure, horsetail tea, or treatment with Bouillie Bordelaise.
Red spiders: leaves stained gray, then bronzed and dried out, with webs. Cut off and burn affected parts, spray with black soap or nettle purin, or use a pyrethrum-based insecticide.
Beetles: pick them up by hand.
Aphids: attack leaves, buds and stems. Spray with black soap or nettle purin, or use a pyrethrum-based organic insecticide in case of heavy attack.
