    Good to know :

    Sowing: March / August
    Harvest: July / October

Bull's blood beet, an ancient variety with round, somewhat flattened roots and a characteristic dark red color, is renowned for its mild, sweet taste, especially when harvested young. Its leaves are also edible, often eaten like chard ribs or as young shoots.

To sow this beet successfully, you can plant them in place between April and May, spacing them 5 cm apart along the row, in loose, rich, deep soil, at a depth of around 1 cm. Be sure to water them regularly. After emergence, thin them out every 20 cm to encourage the growth of the most vigorous plants. Regular hoeing and weeding are important to keep the soil weed-free and promote uniform growth. In case of drought, remember to mulch to conserve soil moisture.

For good combinations, beets get on well with kohlrabi, lettuce, onions and bush beans.

Beet is generally harvested about 3? months after sowing. They can be stored in sand in the cellar for longer preservation.
