    Good to know :

    Sowing: April / June
    Harvest: May / August

Ortolana di Faenza zucchini is an early Italian variety, ideal for those who want to enjoy their harvest quickly. With its compact bushy habit, it is resistant to cold spells, making it a robust choice for your garden. Its elongated, light-green fruits, slightly enlarged at the base, offer excellent taste and are perfect for a wide range of recipes.

To sow Ortolana di Faenza zucchini successfully, you can start in April, using pots in a light location, with a minimum temperature of 12°C. It's important to place the seeds on edge and keep the soil moist, but not excessively so, to prevent the seeds from rotting. Be sure to place your pots near a light source to encourage germination.

Once the plants are ready for transplanting, around mid-May, choose a sunny spot for your zucchini, spacing them about 1 metre apart in all directions. Don't forget to water regularly and add compost to enrich the soil. Also remember to pinch the stems to stimulate their development, and to hoe, weed and mulch the base to limit weeds and preserve moisture.

As for favorable associations, avoid planting your zucchini near potatoes, but they will appreciate the company of beans and cabbage.

If your zucchini plants don't produce flowers or fruit, this may be due to a number of reasons, including hot weather, which can affect the formation of female flowers. Also, make sure your garden attracts the pollinating insects needed for pollination.

Harvesting takes about 2 months after sowing. It is recommended to harvest zucchini when they are young to avoid them becoming bitter.
