    Organically grown (AB)

    Good to know :

    Sowing: May / July
    Harvest: October to mid-February

Halbhoher kale offers an abundance of finely curled, dark-green leaves, with a delicate flavor and high vitamin content. Its semi-dwarf characteristic makes it ideal for small gardening spaces.

To sow Halbhoher kale successfully, we recommend sowing the seeds to a depth of 0.5 cm between May and mid-July, in a nursery. Don't compact the soil, to allow the seedlings to rise more easily towards the light. Make sure the temperature remains between 7°C and 20°C for around 10 days for optimum germination.

When the plants have developed four leaves, they can be transplanted into the ground, at a distance of around 80 cm in all directions, in fertile, deep, cool soil exposed to the sun. Mulching around the plants and watering at the base will encourage their growth. If there's a risk of frost, we recommend protecting the plants with a winter veil.

Halbhoher kale thrives in rich, clay soils, but can adapt to a variety of soil types as long as they remain cool.

The leaves can be harvested in stages from October to mid-February. The leaves become even more tender after the first frost, which intensifies their flavor.

To protect the plants from enemies such as slugs and whiteflies, you can use natural techniques such as slug dams or sprays of tansy decoctions, or install anti-insect netting.

With its tasty qualities and ease of cultivation, Halbhoher kale is an excellent choice for any gardener wishing to add a touch of freshness and nutrition to their vegetable garden.
