    Good to know :

    Sowing: February / May
    Harvest: July / October

The California Wonder bell pepper, known for its square, fleshy fruits weighing between 150 and 200 grams, turns from bright green to deep red when ripe. It is a robust variety, capable of resisting the Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV).

To sow this variety successfully, start in February or March. Use cups filled with fine potting soil and sow the seeds to a depth of 2-3 mm. Keep them in a greenhouse heated to 25°C. Water gently with a sprayer to keep the potting soil moist but not soggy. To prevent fungal diseases, sprinkle crushed charcoal over the potting soil. Make sure the pots receive plenty of light, either naturally near a window or artificially under a horticultural lamp. Once the seedlings have developed 2 to 4 true leaves, repot them in larger pots.

Once the risk of frost has passed, usually in May, transplant your seedlings to the garden. Choose light, well-aerated soil and a warm, sunny spot. Space the plants 50 cm apart in all directions to allow them to develop properly. Water regularly and mulch to retain moisture. A moderate amount of compost is beneficial, but be careful not to overload with nitrogen to avoid excessive foliage growth to the detriment of the fruit. Peppers need high temperatures to grow well, so in regions with cooler summers, greenhouse cultivation is recommended.
