    Sowing: March / April
    Harvest: July / October

In your garden, make way for the star of the summer: the Little Fingers eggplant! Hardy, early and productive, it promises abundant harvests of deliciously bluish fruit, perfectly suited to your favorite summer recipes.

To sow the Little Fingers eggplant successfully, start by sowing in cups of fine potting soil in March or April, on a warm bed maintained at 25°C, indoors or in a heated greenhouse. Cover the seeds with a few millimeters of potting soil, pack lightly, and place the cups near a window to ensure good light. Water lightly if the potting soil starts to dry out.

When the seedlings reach 15 cm, transplant them into cool, deep, humus-rich soil at the end of May, in a warm, sunny spot, spacing each plant 50 cm apart. Hoe, weed, ridge, water regularly and mulch to retain moisture. Prune eggplants like tomatoes to encourage better growth.

Eggplants go well with bush beans, making a winning combination in the garden.

Little Fingers eggplants can be harvested around 5 months after sowing.

Eggplant pests include mildew, red spider mites, Colorado beetles and aphids:

Downy mildew manifests itself as gray-green spots on the leaves, with white felting underneath. For prevention, hoe and water with nettle manure and horsetail tea. If the first symptoms appear, treat with Bordeaux mixture.
Red spider mites cause gray spots on leaves, which then turn bronze, dry out and fall off. They spin webs on the leaves. Cut off and burn the affected parts. A treatment with black soap or nettle purin can be effective. A pyrethrum-based plant insecticide can also be used.
Beetles should be picked up by hand to prevent their spread.
Aphids attack leaves, buds and stems. Spray with a black soap solution or nettle manure. A pyrethrum-based biological insecticide can be used in the event of severe infestation.
By following these cultivation tips, you'll be able to harvest delicious Little Fingers eggplants, perfect for garnishing your dishes.
