    Good to know :

    Sowing: February / March
    Harvest: July / September

The Sucette de Provence pepper, originally from the south of France, is known for its intense, pungent flavor, reaching 7/10 on the Scoville scale. The slender, 10 cm-long fruits have fine flesh and turn red when ripe.

For successful sowing, start in February or March, placing the seeds in cups of fine potting soil in a greenhouse heated to 25°C. Young chilli plants require constant warmth and some, but not excessive, humidity. Germination generally takes three weeks. In May, transplant the plants into deep, loose soil, placing them in a warm, sunny spot protected from the elements ventsplace them in a warm, sunny spot protected from the sun, with 50 cm spacing between each plant. Be sure to hoe, water regularly and mulch the plants. In cooler regions, we strongly recommend growing chillies in greenhouses.

Chillies do particularly well in the company of other solanaceous plants such as Peruvian cockroaches, nightshades, peppers and tomatoes.

Peppers are harvested around 5-6 months after sowing, when they have reached full maturity. You can pick them as required, or dry them in the sun or oven to preserve them.
