    Good to know:

    Sowing: February / March
    Harvest: July / September

The Marconi Rosso bell pepper is a real star in the vegetable garden. Originally from Italy, it is distinguished by its elongated fruits, measuring between 15 and 20 cm, which hang gracefully from the plants. Their flesh is fleshy and sweet, perfect for eating green when half-ripe or red when fully ripe. Plants reach around 60 cm in height, with green stems dotted with purple touches at the nodes and bright white flowers. With its mild, spiceless flavor, it's ideal for adding a touch of color and flavor to your dishes.

To sow Marconi Rosso peppers successfully, start in February or March by preparing pots with fine potting soil. Sow the seeds to a depth of 2-3 mm, then store the cups in a greenhouse heated to 25°C. Water gently with a sprayer to keep the soil moist but not soggy, and add a little crushed charcoal to prevent fungus. Place the cups in full sunlight or under a horticultural lamp to prevent the seedlings from stretching too much. Re-pot seedlings into larger pots when 2 to 4 true leaves appear.

Replant in May in light, well-aerated soil, once frosts are no longer a threat. Choose a warm, sunny spot, spacing the plants 50 cm apart in all directions. Add compost to the soil, but avoid excess nitrogen, so as not to encourage too much foliage at the expense of fruit. Water regularly and mulch to retain moisture. If you live in an area with cooler summers, greenhouse cultivation is recommended.

Peppers can be harvested around 5-6 months after sowing. You can pick them green when half-ripe, or wait until they've fully ripened and turned red for an even sweeter flavor. With these steps, you'll have abundant, delicious Marconi Rosso peppers, perfect for enhancing your favorite recipes.
