Summer Cider tomato seeds allow you to grow a specific variety of tomato, known for its golden yellow color and sweet, fruity flavor. They are generally medium to large in size, with juicy flesh and a firm texture, making them a delicious choice for a variety of culinary uses. To grow Summer Cider tomatoes successfully, you can start by sowing the seeds indoors, before the last expected frost. Use cups or pots filled with light, fertile potting soil. Once the plants have developed a few true leaves and any risk of frost has passed, they can be transplanted to the garden or to larger containers.

Summer Cider tomatoes thrive in well-drained soil rich in organic matter, and need sunny exposure to develop properly. Be sure to keep the soil evenly moist by watering regularly, especially during periods of active growth and warm weather. It's also important to support tomato plants as they grow, using stakes or cages to prevent fruit dragging on the ground and rotting. Summer Cider" tomatoes can be harvested once they have reached full maturity and come off easily. Use a sharp knife to cut them carefully. Summer Cider tomatoes are delicious eaten fresh, in salads or sandwiches, or used in a variety of cooked dishes. Their sweet flavor and vibrant color make them an attractive addition to any summer meal. Enjoy their abundance and delicious taste throughout the growing season.

    Good to know:

    Sowing: February / April
    Harvest: July / September

Sowing: From February to April, use a bucket or heated greenhouse to sow your Summer Cider tomato seeds. Make sure the soil is fine and maintain a constant temperature of at least 20°C to encourage germination. Bury the seeds about 1 cm deep, then water gently to keep the soil moist but not soggy. Place the cups near a window for good light exposure. When the plants are 12 to 15 cm tall and there's no risk of frost, transplant them into rich, loose, healthy soil, spacing them 70 cm between rows and 50 cm apart on the row, in a warm, sunny spot. Install stakes to support the growth of the plants and water abundantly at the base once a week to prevent disease.

Tip: Cucumbers tend to be runners, but you can climb them on a support to save space in your garden. Encourage them to cling to a wire mesh or trellis with tendrils, making them easier to harvest and protecting them from dirt.

Summer Cider Tomato, also known as Summer Cider Apricot, is a mid-season variety that produces large, bright orange fruits, averaging 300 g but reaching up to 600-800 g. Their orange flesh, with a texture reminiscent of mango, is both firm and melt-in-the-mouth. This tomato offers an exceptional flavor, balanced between sweet and fragrant, with a hint of acidity. Perfect for use in salads, sauces or coulis.

Should the gourmands be removed from tomato plants?

Opinions differ on the need to prune tomatoes, with each gardener having his or her own arguments. In reality, the decision is yours! If you opt for pruning, you should know that its aim is to promote fruit size and earliness, and to facilitate harvesting. However, this method requires time and care, as it's not always easy to distinguish the main head from a secondary shoot. What's more, removing suckers can cause injury to the plants. If you choose not to prune your tomatoes, they will simply need more space in the garden, with about 1 meter between each plant. The fruit may be smaller, but more numerous. Another option is to lead the plants on two strands, removing all the gourmands after pinching the foot 20 cm from the ground.
