Fin de Meaux" gherkin seeds are used to grow a specific variety of gherkin, known for its delicate flavor and crunchy texture. They are generally harvested at an early stage of development, when they are small and tender, for better taste quality. To grow "Fin de Meaux" gherkins successfully, you can start by sowing the seeds directly in the ground, after any risk of frost, when the soil has warmed up, usually in spring. Choose a sunny spot in your garden with well-drained soil rich in organic matter.

Keep the soil evenly moist by watering regularly, especially during periods of active growth. Fin de Meaux" gherkins can be harvested when they reach a length of around 5 to 8 centimetres, depending on your personal preferences. It's important to harvest gherkins regularly to encourage continuous production. Fin de Meaux" gherkins are perfect for pickling, adding to salads, or eating as a crunchy snack. They're also delicious fresh from the garden. Enjoy their unique flavor and crunchy texture all season long.

    Good to know:

    Sowing: March / May
    Harvest: June / September

Sowing: In March, April or May, start by sowing your seeds in pots. Then transplant them into healthy, fresh, loose, humus-rich soil as soon as the plants have developed 3 leaves and there's no risk of frost. Be sure to space them 0.60 m apart, in rows 1.30 m apart, in a sunny, warm spot. Don't forget to water regularly.

Tip: Most cucumber varieties are described as "runners", which means they tend to produce long stems and take up a lot of space - up to 2-3 square meters! This can be problematic for small gardens! However, there's a simple trick to get round this problem: encourage your cucumber plants to climb high up, for example on a wire fence. Help them cling to the support, and their tendrils will do the rest. This practical and effective method gives the fruit better light exposure, protects it from dirt and makes it easier to harvest. And it works for gherkins too!

Cornichon Vert Fin de Meaux, a traditional variety from France, stands out for its robustness, high production and earliness. Its fruits are elongated, thin, short and cylindrical, with no spines. Their flesh is thick, firm and crunchy, offering an exquisite flavor.

Harvest your gherkins when they're young to preserve them in brine or prepare them in vinegar.
