Red pear tomato seeds enable you to grow a specific variety of tomato characterized by its elongated pear shape and bright red color. Red pear tomatoes are prized for their sweet, juicy flavor, making them ideal for eating fresh, in salads or as an aperitif. To grow red pear tomatoes successfully, you can start by sowing the seeds indoors, before the last expected frost, in cups or pots filled with light, fertile potting soil. Once the plants have developed a few true leaves and any risk of frost has passed, they can be transplanted to the garden or to larger containers. Red pear tomatoes prefer well-drained soil rich in organic matter, as well as sunny exposure to develop properly. They need regular watering to keep the soil evenly moist, especially during periods of active growth and warm weather.

It's important to support tomato plants as they grow, using stakes or cages to prevent fruit dragging on the ground and rotting. Red pear tomatoes can be harvested once they have reached full maturity and come off easily. Use a sharp knife to cut them carefully.

    Sowing: February / April
    Harvest: June / September

In a variety of shapes and colors, Poire Rouge tomatoes will add a touch of curiosity to your kitchen garden, while delighting you with their unique fragrance and flavor.

This vigorous, productive mid-season variety requires no pruning. Its clusters of fruit, weighing between 10 and 15 g, offer firm, juicy, slightly acid flesh, perfect for cocktails, salads or cooked dishes.

To sow Red Pear tomatoes, start between February and April on a warm bed or in pots in an environment heated to at least 20°C. Bury the seeds 1 cm deep in moist potting soil, then place the cups near a window to benefit from the light. Transplant when frost is no longer a concern, spacing the plants 70 cm between rows and 50 cm apart, in rich, well-drained soil.

The question of tomato pruning divides gardeners, each with their own approach. You may choose to remove suckers to encourage fruit growth, or let the plant grow freely. Another option is to lead the plant on two strands, eliminating the gourmands and retaining two lateral stems.

Tomatoes are generally harvested 4-5 months after sowing, when the fruit is ripe. Be sure to keep an eye on tomatoes' main enemies, such as mildew and apical necrosis, by taking preventive measures such as plant protection and regular watering.
