Valencia round eggplant seeds enable you to grow a specific variety, which is popular for its round shape and tasty flesh. The Valencia round eggplant originates from the Mediterranean region and is widely grown in warm climates. Its fruits have smooth, shiny skin, and are generally medium to large in size. These eggplants are versatile in the kitchen and can be used in a variety of dishes, including stir-fries, stews, curries and grilled dishes. When growing Valencia round eggplants, it's important to provide them with well-drained soil rich in organic matter, as well as sunny exposure to promote healthy growth and abundant production.

    Good to know :

    Sowing: March / April
    Harvesting: July / October

The Ronde de Valence variety is a robust, productive eggplant, with round, smooth, good-quality fruit weighing around 170 grams or more and with a diameter of over 9 cm. The plants, reaching a height of 0.7 to 0.8 m, have slightly wavy, hairy, prickle-free leaves and light mauve flowers.

For successful sowing, sow in pots in March/April, maintain a constant temperature of 25°C, cover the seeds with potting soil and water lightly. The 15 cm seedlings should be transplanted into the ground at the end of May, 50 cm apart, in rich, sunny soil.

Harvesting begins around 5 months after sowing. Eggplants go well with bush beans. Downy mildew, red spider mites, Colorado beetles and aphids are among eggplant's main enemies. To protect the plants, preventive and curative treatments, such as the use of nettle purin, black soap and Bordeaux mixture, can be applied.
