Romaine lettuce parris island:
- Soil care: rich, fresh, deeply tilled soil.
- Exposure: sunny and sheltered from the wind.
- Sowing: 0.5 to 1 cm deep in a bucket. Transplant at the 4 to 5 leaf stage, 25 cm apart between plants and rows, without burying the plant too much. Water thoroughly.
- Emergence: in 6 to 8 days in soil at 10°C.
- Watering: regularly. Keep the soil moist throughout the crop to obtain a lot of foliage and allow better conservation after harvest. If the lettuce is not sufficiently watered, the leaves soften and the plant goes to seed.
- Harvest: from sowing to obtaining the plant, it takes 3 to 7 weeks.
- Storage: a few days in a cool place, to extend its shelf life wash and wring it out.
- Origin: lettuce has been grown in Europe for a very long time. The cultivated varieties seem to derive from a wild species called wild lettuce
