Grow your own Greek basil with our carefully selected seeds. Greek basil is prized for its intense aroma and slightly peppery flavor, which adds a touch of freshness to many Mediterranean dishes. These seeds will produce robust, fragrant plants, allowing you to harvest fresh basil leaves throughout the growing season to flavor your dishes with authentic flavor.

    Organically grown (AB)

    Good to know :

    Sowing: March / April
    Harvest: June / October

Greek Basil grows into a dense, compact ball.

Its remarkably fine foliage exudes an intense, delicate fragrance.

This variety is renowned for its ease of cultivation, flourishing in the open ground as well as in pots or window boxes, and can be grown successfully indoors.

Successful basil germination requires a constant temperature of at least 20°C, which means sowing on a warm bed or in a heated greenhouse. Start sowing in early spring, using pots and high-quality sowing soil. Avoid pushing the seeds into the potting soil, preferring to place them on the surface, then sprinkle lightly with potting soil before packing firmly. Water carefully to avoid excess moisture. Germination generally takes 6-8 days. Place your containers near a well-lit window.

To plant basil in the ground, wait until after the frosts in May or June, when the plants have developed 3 to 4 leaves (or later in June in more northerly regions). Choose well-drained, nutrient-rich soil with full sun exposure. Leave a space of about 50 cm between each plant. Water sparingly, taking care not to wet the foliage.

As for harvesting basil, pick the leaves before flowering, ideally between May and June, to capture the full aroma. However, you can pick leaves all year round, as long as the plant is producing them. For optimal storage, chop the leaves and place in ice cube trays filled with water, or preserve in olive oil.

By planting basil between your tomato plants, you can help protect them naturally from certain pests. All basil varieties are suitable for growing in pots or window boxes, offering a practical solution for restricted spaces such as balconies or for indoor cultivation.
