Propagation culture chamber
Choosing the right propagation chamber
You've decided to start growing plants indoors, but don't yet know how to choose your propagation chamber. Discover our tips to help you select the one that will best suit your home and your growing project.
What is the purpose of a propagation chamber?
The purpose of a propagation chamber, also known as a grow room or grow box, is to reproduce as closely as possible the ideal conditions for growing your plants. This will enable you to provide your plants, flowers or vegetables with everything they need to grow optimally.
How does a propagation chamber work?
By installing a propagation chamber, you'll be able to control your plant's light output using horticultural lamps. Ventilation allows you to manage the air received by your seedlings. You can also control the humidity and temperature inside your propagation chamber. Inside, a reflective lining will help retain heat. Depending on the model you prefer, special socks will enable you to place your cables and various connections, as well as ventilation ducts, without losing heat. Since odors during flowering can be particularly intense, we recommend that you equip your ventilation system with a charcoal filter.
Things to consider before you buy
When deciding which propagation chamber to choose, you'll need to keep an eye on the maximum size of your plants. Your plants should be no more than 30 cm below your lamps, although you should be aware that they will be elevated. To install your propagation chamber, it's best to plan for a space of at least 1 m² by 2 m high. The room in which you set up your propagation chamber should be as dry as possible, and free of any elements, decorations or accessories that could trap dust.
